After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Polly joined the family business Mclaggan Mugs, in 1991. Mclaggan were pioneers in licensing in the giftware industry and Polly was the first to set up licenses with Bang on the Door and Orla Kiely. She was also the first to put Keep Calm and Carry On on a product. From 1991 to 2022 Polly worked successfully with over 100 designers and brands including Quentin Blake, the BBC, Paul Smith and Hasbro. She also worked closely with many retailers on bespoke projects. These include Liberty, John Lewis, Oliver Bonas, Selfridges, TATE and The Conran shop as well as export customers around the globe.
Jan has a legal background and qualified as a Company Secretary with accountants Touche Ross. Jan has worked across a range of industries including energy, renewables and financial services. She has been Company Secretary of a number of AIM listed companies and has run her own consultancy business providing company secretarial and corporate legal services. Jan worked at the whisky company, Chivas Brothers (part of the Pernod Ricard group), for ten years managing their property portfolio and intellectual property interests. This included working with the marketing teams on brand development and with legal colleagues in the wider Pernod Ricard group.
Maisie has a versatile skill set spanning product management, design and marketing, bringing a wealth of expertise to the table. She has a strong background in art and the giftware industry and also a huge knowledge of all things digital. This experience combined with a keen eye for design and understanding of the 20-40 year old market are a great asset to Ampersand and the licensors and licensees we collaborate with.
